Is John Boyega Replacing Jonathan Majors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Marvel has given the boot to Jonathan Majors following his recent guilty verdict in domestic assault charges, brought forward by his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The decision has left a Kang the Conqueror-shaped hole in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sparking widespread speculation about who will step into the iconic antagonist’s shoes.

As the MCU charges into its next phase, Kang is poised to become the primary nemesis post-Thanos. Majors, set to play Kang in ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty (2026),’ now faces replacement rumours.

With Majors out of the picture, the online grapevine has been buzzing with potential successors. One contender that stirred the pot was John Boyega, who, after sharing a snapshot with Anthony Mackie on X, became the subject of fan discussions. However, Boyega quashed the rumours himself, responding to a hopeful fan’s suggestion with a gif from Shrek, putting an end to any hopes of him donning Kang’s mantle.

The big question now is, who will fill Jonathan Majors’ shoes as Kang the Conqueror? A slew of names, including Will Smith, Chukwudi Iwuji, Regé-Jean Page, John David Washington, and Trevante Rhodes, are circulating among MCU fans globally. Yet, the studio remains tight-lipped about any official casting decisions.

Turning to Majors’ legal troubles, the NYPD’s preliminary investigation reveals he was involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, resulting in assault charges. The victim, Grace Jabbari, suffered substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear. Majors, arrested in March, was found guilty of assault in the third degree and harassment on 18th December.

Marvel Studios swiftly responded to Majors’ legal woes by terminating his contract, creating a void in their cinematic universe. As Majors awaits sentencing scheduled for 6th February next year, fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of his replacement.
