‘MaXXXine’ follows the journey of aspiring actress Maxine Minx as she lands her big break in Hollywood. However, her dreams are threatened by a shadowy assassin who reveals the dark secrets of the stars. The story, like its predecessors ‘X’ and ‘Pearl,’ is fictional but draws inspiration from real events. The infamous ‘Night Stalker,’ Richard Ramirez, served as an inspiration for the serial killer character in ‘MaXXXine.’

Between 1984 and 1985, Ramirez terrorised California and was responsible for at least 13 murders. His ruthless crime spree and random selection of victims left a lasting impact. The case significantly altered public perception of home security and inspired numerous documentaries and films.

While ‘MaXXXine’ is not based on actual events, the excesses and culture of the 1980s heavily influenced the drama. The reference to the serial killer adds a sense of authenticity to the story. Mia Goth returns as Maxine Minx, the adult film star with aspirations of becoming a Hollywood star.

The film boasts an impressive cast. Giancarlo Esposito plays Maxine’s agent, while Elizabeth Debicki stars as the director. The cast also includes Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, and Kevin Bacon as detectives. Newcomers Lily Collins, Moses Sumney, and Halsey have roles that are currently under wraps. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, West mentioned that ‘MaXXXine’ is “probably” the final entry in the ‘X’ franchise, though he didn’t entirely rule out the possibility of a fourth film.
