Blake Lively, the iconic ‘Gossip Girl’ alumna, is set to grace the silver screen once again in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, ‘It Ends with Us.’ Joining her in this adaptation is actor Justin Baldoni and the duo is ready to bring to life the twists and turns of a story that has captivated readers worldwide.
Plot Overview
The narrative revolves around Lily, a recent college graduate who relocates to a new city. In the bustling metropolis, she encounters Ryle, a man with a strict policy against relationships. However, Lily becomes the exception, and as their connection deepens, an unexpected blast from her past resurfaces, throwing her carefully crafted world into disarray.
Casting and Behind the Scenes
Colleen Hoover, the creative mind behind the novel, made the exciting casting announcements on 26th January. Emotionally recounting her journey from her childhood home, Hoover expressed gratitude for her mother, the inspiration behind the book. Blake Lively is set to portray Lily, fulfilling Hoover’s dream casting, while Justin Baldoni takes on the role of Ryle.
The casting choices did stir some controversy due to the actors’ age compared to the characters. However, Hoover acknowledged the oversight, explaining the decision to age the characters for a more authentic portrayal. Subsequently, younger counterparts for Lively and Baldoni were introduced, portrayed by Isabela Ferrer and Alex Neustaedter, respectively.
Additional Cast Members
Joining the cast are Brandon Sklenar as Atlas, Lily’s old flame and Jenny Slate as Allysa, Ryle’s sister. The ensemble promises a dynamic portrayal of the intricate relationships depicted in Hoover’s novel.
