Jake Gyllenhaal Says He Can “Never Forget” Patrick Swayze’s Kindness

With the upcoming release of the ‘Road House’ remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal, the actor took a moment on social media to pay tribute to his late co-star, Patrick Swayze, with whom he shared the screen in the original ‘Road House.’ Gyllenhaal fondly reminisced about Swayze’s gentle nature and the profound impact he had on him.

Sharing a heartfelt throwback photo of himself and Swayze, Gyllenhaal reflected on the privilege of collaborating with one of his idols. In a touching caption, the ‘Spider-Man’ actor expressed, “I’ve been thinking back about my time working with Patrick on ‘Donnie Darko’ and rewatching this great man in the original ‘Road House’ plus so many other films.”

Acknowledging Swayze’s immense talent, Gyllenhaal continued, “I’ve never stopped being a fan. He was such a talent and I continue to have so much respect and admiration for what he put out into the world.”

Their paths first crossed on the set of the 1989 ‘Road House,’ where Swayze portrayed a tough bouncer tasked with maintaining order in a rowdy bar. Their on-screen partnership extended to the 2001 sci-fi thriller ‘Donnie Darko.’ Recalling their early days together, Gyllenhaal highlighted Swayze’s generosity towards him as a newcomer in the industry. “I’ll never forget his kindness to me when I was starting out — he didn’t have to take the time, but he always did,” Gyllenhaal shared.

Now, as Gyllenhaal gears up for the release of the new ‘Road House’ film, he pays tribute to Swayze’s memory. “We’ve made a different RH this time around, but I hope it’s one he would’ve had fun watching!” expressed Gyllenhaal, honouring the spirit of Swayze.

This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has reminisced about Swayze. In a candid conversation with Entertainment Tonight back in 2017, the actor shared fond memories of the late star, describing him as “filled with so much love and kindness.” Gyllenhaal also recalled capturing a memorable photo of Swayze on his electric scooter, portraying him as a “wonderful madman.”
