Jason Momoa's 'Weird' Morning Meal He Swears By

Jason Momoa isn't shy about sharing his unconventional breakfast choice, which some might find a bit peculiar — even "weird."

The 44-year-old ‘Aquaman’ star reveals, "I have a weird breakfast thing. I always have rice with avocado, sunny-side-up eggs, and sardines." Emphasizing that the sardines must be "fresh," he adds, "You can get them grilled."

When asked if he has this breakfast every morning, Momoa replies, "If I can, yeah. That's my favourite thing." However, he notes that the menu changes when he's in his hometown, saying, "If I'm in Hawaii, it's Portuguese sausage, eggs, rice, [macaroni] salad, kalua pig, lau lau, and a big bowl of f---ing poi." He humorously adds, "Then it's back to sleep."

Beyond his unique breakfast habits, Momoa is involved in the culinary and beverage world, having launched the Meili Vodka brand earlier this year. Reflecting his commitment to environmentally conscious practices, the vodka bottles are made from recycled glass.

In addition to his vodka venture, Momoa owns the aluminium-bottle water brand Mananalu, promoting it on the red carpet during his 9th December appearance while promoting his movie ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’. As a credited co-writer on the film, Momoa expresses his passion for combating single-use plastic, stating, "I really love the idea of trying to stop single-use plastic and [using] this beautiful movie to attack that."

Recognized as an "environmentalist at heart," Momoa was named the UN Environment Programme's Advocate for Life Below Water at the UN Ocean Conference in Portugal last year.

Having a breakfast rich in sardines plays a role in helping Jason Momoa maintain his fitness, particularly during his demanding workout routines. This isn't the first time the onscreen superhero has used food strategically in his acting endeavours. During the filming of the drama ‘See’, Momoa went to great lengths to safely interact with a nine-foot-tall Kodiak bear. In a 2019 Instagram video, he shared a moment where his furry co-star enjoyed an Oreo cookie straight from his mouth.

‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, directed by James Wan, is set to hit theatres on 22nd December. The film reunites Momoa with co-stars Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
