JENNIE Battles the Heat on ‘Hot Ones’, Says JISOO Would Ace It

JENNIE’s recent appearance on the web series ‘Hot Ones’ proved to be a fiery ordeal — and an unforgettable one. The BLACKPINK star, who confessed from the start that she avoids spicy food entirely, began the challenge with a brave face but was soon overwhelmed by the escalating heat.

Speaking to host Sean Evans during the June 19 episode, she admitted that her usual meals are completely spice-free, saying she preferred things plain but was ready to confront her fear. That determination quickly gave way to chaos as the heat intensified. By wing No. 8, doused in the infamous Da’ Bomb sauce, JENNIE was in visible distress, fanning herself, crying for help, and even taking laps around the table in a desperate attempt to cool down.

The 29-year-old followed in the footsteps of fellow BLACKPINK members ROSÉ and LISA, who previously faced the ‘Hot Ones’ gauntlet with far more composure. JENNIE, however, couldn’t mask her suffering — at one point exclaiming that she might be allergic to spice and, half-joking, pleaded for divine intervention.

Throughout the episode, she discussed everything from her debut solo album ‘Ruby’, to the songs she fought to include on it, her love for skincare, hearing fans sing her lyrics, and even her life as a hamster mum — all while battling tears and trying to survive the heat.

When Evans asked whether she thought JISOO, the only BLACKPINK member yet to appear on ‘Hot Ones’, might take on the challenge, JENNIE was confident. She said JISOO was the one who introduced her to spicy food back when they were trainees, and was convinced that she would handle the wings just fine. “She’s the other you,” she said, suggesting JISOO would be the perfect guest for the show.

JENNIE’s Fiery Struggle Steals the Spotlight

Looking back on her bandmates’ cool demeanours during their episodes, JENNIE noted that their calm reactions gave her false hope. “I thought if they could do it, maybe I could too. But I can’t!”
