Jennifer Lopez Makes Surprise Appearance at Kit Kat Club For Cabaret Revival

The multifaceted entertainer, renowned for her talents in singing and acting, made a notable appearance at the highly acclaimed revival of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s legendary musical. Alongside her longtime manager, Benny Medina, Jennifer Lopez, graced the Kit Kat Club during the Saturday performance.

During intermission, Lopez took the opportunity to pose for an exclusive photo with Cabaret’s creative team, including choreographer Julia Cheng, designer Tom Scutt, director Rebecca Frecknall, and associate director Jordan Fein. Lopez’s visit to the Kit Kat Club comes amidst exciting news of her involvement in another Kander and Ebb musical. She is set to star in the film adaptation of ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ alongside Diego Luna from Andor and Tonatiuh from ‘Promised Land.’

Cabaret, the iconic musical set in Berlin’s Kit Kat Club during the rise of the Nazi party, follows the story of American writer Clifford Bradshaw and his encounters with captivating characters like the enigmatic Emcee and English singer Sally Bowles. The musical’s narrative intertwines with the looming threat of Nazi power, impacting everyone in its wake, particularly Bradshaw’s relationships with Fräulein Schneider and Herr Schultz.

‘Kiss of the Spider Woman,’ based on Manuel Puig’s novel and with a book by Terrence McNally, originally premiered in the West End in 1993 before hitting Broadway the following year. It garnered seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and featured outstanding performances by Brent Carver, Anthony Crivello, and Chita Rivera.

Bill Condon, known for his work in Chicago and Dreamgirls, is set to direct the ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ film adaptation. Lopez, Medina, and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas are executive producing through their Nuyorican Productions Banner, joined by notable names like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Puig’s novel, previously adapted for the screen in 1985, unfolds within an Argentinian prison in 1981, exploring the bond between Luis Molina and Valentin Arregui amidst the complexities of war.
