Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Self-Funding ‘This Is Me…Now’ Film: “Everybody Thought I Was Crazy”

In an extensive conversation with a magazine, the versatile icon delved into the intricacies of the OTT original film that complements her latest album, ‘This Is Me…Now’. Jennifer Lopez disclosed that she undertook the bold step of self-financing the ambitious visual venture. 

The accompanying Variety interview released the subsequent day, shed light on the considerable investment required for the album, film and an associated documentary, totalling a staggering $20 million in production costs. Despite the hefty budget, Amazon eventually acquired the project.

Reflecting on the financial challenges encountered during the project, Lopez candidly expressed, “We went in over budget. It was a challenging project in that way. It’s like there could have never been enough money for the project.” 

She elucidated further, emphasising the independent nature of the endeavour, which she financed. The absence of unlimited resources from a studio posed significant hurdles, making the project particularly demanding from a production standpoint.
