Jennifer Lopez Reunites With Onscreen Dad Edward James Olmos in ‘Office Romance’ 28 Years After ‘Selena’

After costarring in Selena for almost 28 years, Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos are making a comeback on screen.
Lopez revealed that Olmos would co-star with her in ‘Office Romance’, a romantic comedy that will be available on OTT. She shared the news on Instagram, describing it as a “full-circle moment” and expressing how meaningful it was to collaborate with Olmos once more.
Lopez played the late Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in the 1997 film ‘Selena’, which was her breakthrough performance. Olmos portrayed Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla. Selena’s ascent to popularity before her untimely death at the age of 23 was documented in the movie. Unexpectedly, Olmos’s announcement to join ‘Office Romance’ coincided with the parole denial of Yolanda Saldívar, Selena’s killer.

Lopez reflected on Selena’s influence and honored her memory in 2022, the film’s 25th anniversary. She revealed that having the opportunity to play the singer was a turning point in her career and something she would always treasure.
Lopez will work with her longtime manager, Benny Medina, as a producer on Office Romance. She co-stars with Brett Goldstein, who won an Emmy for his performance in Ted Lasso. Goldstein plays a vivacious coworker, while Lopez portrays a motivated executive, laying the groundwork for a romantic relationship at work. Betty Gilpin, star of Three Women, also joins the cast.
Lopez continues her run of productions after her roles in ‘The Mother’ and ‘Atlas’, even if ‘Office Romance’ does not yet have an official release date.
