Jesse Metcalfe Reveals Demanding Schedule For ‘John Tucker Must Die’

Jesse Metcalfe found that playing the lead in ‘John Tucker Must Die’ was not only a pivotal moment in his career but also a physically taxing part. The American actor, who has starred in several TV series and motion pictures including ‘Fortress,’ ‘Desperate Housewives,’ and ‘Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries,’ talked candidly about the difficulties he had while shooting the teen comedy.

Speaking with co-stars Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel onstage at Epic Cons Chicago on 24th March 2024, Metcalfe recalled the rigorous training regimen he underwent for the part. He acknowledged that he followed strict dietary guidelines, which included eating salmon regularly and that he sometimes worked out three times a day.

Maintaining his charm and physical attributes was essential for his role as a teenage womanizer in the movie, so Metcalfe prepared “pretty darn seriously.”

Following his critically acclaimed performance alongside Eva Longoria in ‘Desperate Housewives,’ Metcalfe experienced increased anxiety and pressure due to the weight of his first significant project. His co-stars expressed similar feelings, highlighting the difficulties they encountered with their bodies while filming.

Based loosely on ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor,’ a play by William Shakespeare, ‘John Tucker Must Die’ centres on a group of ex-girlfriends who want to exact revenge on a high school sweetheart.

Alongside Bush and Kebbel, Ashanti and Brittany Snow appear in the film, which was written and directed by Betty Thomas and Jeff Lowell. Notably, Penn Badgley, who is best known for playing Joe in the Netflix series ‘You,’ starred as Scott in the movie as well.
