Jessica Biel Immersed in 20 Lbs. of Epsom Salt For The Met Gala 2024

Jessica Biel made a stunning return to the Met Gala after an 11-year break. The 42-year-old actress graced the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 6th May, captivating in a graceful pink gown. Ahead of the event, Biel shared glimpses of her preparation, revealing a unique ritual of soaking in a bathtub filled with 20 lbs. of Epsom salt for 30 minutes the night before. She even documented the process in a TikTok video, emphasizing its authenticity.

The 2024 Met Gala’s theme, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ aligns with the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit showcasing around 250 items, including notable pieces like an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown, spanning over 400 years of fashion history.

Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of the Costume Institute, described the exhibition’s focus on three main “zones” inspired by the natural world—Land, Sea and Sky, emphasizing fashion’s emotional connection to nature.

The dress code for this year’s gala, ‘The Garden of Time,’ draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s story of the same name. Biel’s last appearance at the Met Gala was in 2013, themed ‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture,’ where she donned a striking black Giambattista Valli macramé and tulle gown with matching pants, complemented by Fred Leighton diamonds and a nose ring. 

Previously, in 2012, Biel attended with her then-fiancé Justin Timberlake, opting for a belted pale pink dress with green embroidery, while Timberlake chose a classic black tuxedo. The couple tied the knot in Italy five months later, and now share two sons, Phineas, aged 3½, and Silas, aged 8½.
