As the recipient of a distinguished Honorary César Award, Jim Carrey is getting ready to be honoured in the capital of France on 27th February, 2026, at the 51st César Awards event, which will take place at the Olympia Theatre. Why Carrey? A Career of Bold Choices

The journey of Jim Carrey from stand-up comedian to dramatic actor is widely known. He first gained recognition for his roles on 'In Living Color,' and 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,' 'The Mask,' and 'Dumb and Dumber' were his biggest hits in 1994. However, Carrey's career has never been satisfied with remaining in one direction.

He won two Golden Globes for his critically lauded performances in 'Man on the Moon,' 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,' and 'The Truman Show.' In addition to performing, he has contributed to television, particularly in the show 'Kidding,' and as an author and artist.

Carrey's capacity to "create exuberant, unrestrained and unforgettable characters that have become a core part of popular culture" was mentioned in the French Academy's tribute. They added that his body of work serves as a reminder that movies have the power to challenge, inspire, and educate us in addition to providing entertainment. Carrey's deep ties to French culture were highlighted in 2010 when he was already honoured in France as a 'Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.'

Carrey's recent comeback to the big screen (such as his return to the role of Doctor Robotnik in the 'Sonic' series) has served as a reminder to viewers of his versatility and charisma. The Honorary César will serve as a global recognition of his artistic path, as he embarks on this new chapter in Paris.
