Joey King Can’t Get Sabrina Carpenter’s Catchy New Hit Out of Her Head: ‘It’s So Rude!’

Joey King is thrilled about her friend Sabrina Carpenter’s recent triumphs in the music world, but she can’t help but playfully complain about how addicting Carpenter’s latest single is!

Speaking exclusively at the ‘Despicable Me 4’ premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, The star, 24, expressed her joy and admiration for the ‘Espresso’ singer, 25. King, who attended the event alongside Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig, shared her excitement about Carpenter’s performance at the Governors Ball music festival the day before.

“Yesterday was the first time I’ve seen her perform in a few years. Our schedules always seemed to clash whenever I wanted to catch one of her big shows,” King said, referring to Carpenter’s set on Saturday, June 8.

Reflecting on her friend’s performance, King added, “I literally was sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She’s just amazing.”

King is particularly taken with Carpenter’s new song, ‘Please Please Please,’ produced by Taylor Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. “I’m so happy for her and I just can’t stop singing ‘Please Please Please’ … get out of my head,” King laughed.

“It’s so rude of her to make a hit like that. It’s also so rude to make such an addicting music video,” King continued, referencing the video that features Carpenter’s boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. “It’s really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 a.m. when I want to go to bed.”

King and Carpenter’s friendship has deep roots. Both have backgrounds with Disney and met many years ago at an industry charity event. However, it took some time before they became the close friends they are today, King told Wired.

Reflecting on her recent experiences, King shared, “It’s been a whirlwind, but I’m so grateful for all the opportunities and especially for the support from friends like Sabrina.”
