Johnny Depp Debuts Dramatic New Look in 'A Christmas Carol' Film Comeback

Johnny Depp is nearly unrecognisable in his latest film role.

The 62-year-old actor was seen filming a new adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol' in London recently, fully transformed into the iconic character Ebenezer Scrooge. Heavy makeup and prosthetics gave Depp a dramatically different look as he stepped into the classic Charles Dickens role.

He was dressed in a long blue-and-black coat worn over pyjamas, with a nightcap perched on his head. His long salt-and-pepper hair peeked out as cameras rolled on set.

Depp was joined by Andrea Riseborough, who plays the Ghost of Christmas Past. Riseborough appeared striking in all-white makeup covering her face, hair, and body. She also wore pale contact lenses and a flowing white dress, adding to her ghostly appearance.

The film, titled 'Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,' is directed by Ti West and is based on Dickens' 1843 novel. The cast also includes Tramell Tillman, Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, and Sam Claflin. Other filmmakers are also working on separate versions of the classic story, including a darker take from Robert Eggers and Willem Dafoe.

'A Christmas Carol' marks Depp's first major Hollywood studio film since 2019. In recent years, he has focused on smaller productions, including 'Jeanne du Barry,' 'Day Drinker,' and the film 'Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness,' which he also directed.

Johnny Depp stepped away from big-budget Hollywood projects following his highly publicised legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, which concluded in 2022. After a lengthy trial and subsequent appeals, the two eventually settled.

'Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol' is set to be released in theatres by Paramount Pictures on 13th November.
