Julia Garner Casted as Shalla-Bal in Marvel’s ‘The Fantastic Four’

Marvel Studios ‘The Fantastic Four’ is gearing up to introduce a new addition to its star-studded cast, this time tapping into one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising talents for the role of Silver Surfer.

Deadline obtained sources stating that Julia Garner, the Emmy-winning actress, has been chosen to play the legendary comic book character in Marvel’s next movie. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing, are joining Garner.

The film, which will be released on 25th July 2025, is helmed by Matt Shakman, who is well-known for his work on ‘WandaVision,’ and written by a group that includes Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer. Production is expected to start this summer.

Although specifics of the story are still unknown, insiders claim that Garner will play Shalla-Bal, a comic book-inspired version of Silver Surfer.

Garner’s career has been on the rise, especially after her critically acclaimed roles in the Netflix series ‘Ozark,’ for which she won three Emmys, and in the limited series ‘Inventing Anna,’ where she was nominated for an Emmy.

Garner’s filmography has grown since her stint on ‘Ozark,’ with more recent releases like ‘The Royal Hotel.’ Future endeavours comprise the Blumhouse and Universal production ‘Wolfman,’ in which she co-stars with Christopher Abbott, and the Paramount suspense thriller ‘Apartment 7A.’ LBI Entertainment and UTA represent Garner.
