Julia Roberts Reveals The Reason Why She Loves Taylor Swift’s ‘Betty’

Julia Roberts, the Hollywood veteran and self-proclaimed ‘Swiftie,’ recently shared her deep admiration for Taylor Swift on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’ The iconic actress, promoting her latest film, ‘Leave The World Behind,’ opened up about her love for Swift’s music, particularly the standout track ‘Betty’ from the ‘Folklore’ album.

During the episode, Julia Roberts playfully confessed, “My Spotify Wrapped was embarrassing,” emphasizing the extent of her fandom for the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer. She acknowledged that her Spotify results weren’t the chic, ‘share with friends’ type but rather a proud display of her devotion to Taylor Swift. Fallon, seizing the opportunity, brought up Roberts’ Instagram post from Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour in June, where she attended the concert with her three children—19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and 16-year-old Henry.

Fallon, intrigued by the hashtag ‘Betty’ in Roberts’ post, inquired if the song was her favorite. Roberts, with a smile, shared a heartwarming connection, saying, “I love ‘Betty,’ and my mother’s name was Betty, so I particularly love ‘Betty.'”

The conversation took an exciting turn as Roberts reminisced about a memorable moment in 2015 when she joined Swift on stage alongside folk legend Joan Baez. Reflecting on her initial hesitation, Roberts shared, “I get very nervous.” However, her children, then 10-year-old twins and 8-year-old Henry, encouraged her to seize the opportunity. Roberts amusingly negotiated a Swift t-shirt, not wanting to repeat an outfit worn just days before on ‘The Ellen show.’ The entire experience, as she concluded, was nothing short of surreal.

Aside from Swift, Roberts discussed her latest film, ‘Leave The World Behind,’ a collaboration with Mr. Robot showrunner Sam Esmail. She highlighted the involvement of former US president Barack Obama through Higher Ground Productions, emphasizing that the project was on Obama’s reading list. The film, based on Rumaan Alam’s 2020 novel, features a stellar cast including Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la and Kevin Bacon.
