June Is the Ultimate Month for Fans of The ‘Saw’ Series: Here’s Why

While the Summer Olympic Games don’t kick off until July, Hulu is gearing up to entertain fans with a different kind of game. Starting in June, the streaming platform will offer seven films from the ‘Saw’ franchise, including the first six movies. 

Next month, you’ll be able to stream ‘Saw’, ‘Saw II’, ‘Saw III’, ‘Saw IV’, ‘Saw V’, ‘Saw VI’, ‘Saw: The Final Chapter’, and ‘Spiral: From the Book of Saw’ on Hulu. This lineup arrives just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original film, which was produced on a modest $1 million budget and went on to earn over $100 million, launching a prolific franchise and propelling creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell to horror stardom.

The ‘Saw’ series, starting with the 2004 film, revolves around John Kramer, also known as Jigsaw (played by Tobin Bell), a cancer patient turned serial killer who forces his victims into deadly traps to make them value their lives. 

Despite Kramer’s death in ‘Saw III’, his legacy continues through his apprentices and a complex storyline, with the latest entry, ‘Saw X’, serving as a prequel. The series was supposed to conclude with 2010’s ‘Saw: The Final Chapter’, but like many iconic horror franchises, it kept going. Its grimy aesthetic and brutal traps spawned a genre of “torture p*rn” films, although none have matched ‘Saw”s success.

Following the unexpected success of last year’s ‘Saw X’, which grossed $111 million and earned an 80% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a sequel is on the horizon. ‘Saw XI’, directed by Saw X’s Kevin Greutert, is set to hit theatres in September 2025.
