Kate Norley: All You Need to Know About John Oliver’s Wife

At the age of 19, Kate Norley joined the U.S. Army with a strong desire to serve her country in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. During her time in Iraq, Kate served in dual roles as a combat medic and a mental health specialist.

In 2008, John and Kate crossed paths at the Republican National Convention. While John covered the event for The Daily Show, Kate was actively involved in promoting Vets for Freedom. At the time, John, being British, held a temporary work visa, and on that particular night, he faced the imminent threat of deportation if not for Kate’s intervention.

John and Kate became engaged in July 2010 in St. Thomas. Following the engagement, Kate shared with PEOPLE, “I was a medic in the Army. It was difficult, but right now it’s nice that I get to spend time with the love of my life.” John said.
