Kate Winslet After Finding Out What Ozempic Is: “That’s Terrible”

Kate Winslet expressed her disapproval of the weight loss drug Ozempic in a recent interview with The New York Times Magazine. The 48-year-old ‘Mare of Easttown’ star, snacking on a pastry during the conversation, admitted she wasn’t familiar with Ozempic but discovered it was a pill gaining popularity for casual weight loss.

Upon learning more about the drug, Winslet reacted with a playful, “Oh, my God. This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!” Her lighthearted rejection of Ozempic was accompanied by a candid discussion about her past struggles with weight and body image.

Winslet recalled the scrutiny she faced in her younger years, particularly during her breakout role in Titanic. British tabloids closely monitored her weight, and she revealed that she had dealt with an eating disorder during that time. The actress emphasized her refusal to let people focus on her weight and criticized the societal emphasis on appearance.

In a December 2022 interview with The Sunday Times, Winslet spoke about the negative comments and advice she received, including being called “blubber” and being told to settle for “fat girl” roles. Despite the challenges, she acknowledged the positive changes in the film industry regarding body image.

During a ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast interview in the same month, Winslet expressed regret for not standing up against the bullying she faced after Titanic’s release. She emphasized the importance of addressing body image issues, especially for young and vulnerable individuals in the industry.
