The harrowing realities of World War I and II are well-documented through numerous films and TV shows, highlighting the efforts of those who made the world aware of the conflicts and those who sacrificed to end them. Award-winning actress Kate Winslet stars as Elizabeth 'Lee' Miller in the upcoming biopic ‘Lee,’ which chronicles the life of the renowned World War II photographer.

Miller leaves her comfortable Vogue job to venture to the front lines and reveal the war's atrocities to the world. A new image from the film, shared by Empire, shows Miller in Europe, armed with only her camera.

In the image, Miller, dressed like a war correspondent, looks intently at an unfolding scene, her expression neutral. Her attire is marked by dust and sweat, and her mask has turned from white to grey, indicating the grim conditions of the war-torn area. Her uniform bears a tag reading "U.S. War Correspondent," emphasizing her role. A helmet dangles from her left arm, highlighting the constant dangers she faces.

Miller clutches her camera firmly, focusing on the events before her. She faced significant challenges, including the prevalent sexism and misogyny of the era. A woman in a war zone was rare, and a female photographer was even more unusual. The background of the image features onlookers, both men and women, pausing to watch this unprecedented sight.

Directed by Ellen Kuras and featuring a screenplay by Liz Hannah, John Collee, and Marion Hume, ‘Lee’ also stars Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, Noemie Merlant, Josh O'Connor, and Alexander Skarsgård. This film marks Kuras' feature directorial debut and is a passion project for Winslet. “Lee was a woman who lived her life on her terms and paid a horrific emotional price for it. I wanted to tell the story of a flawed, middle-aged woman who went to war and documented it,” Winslet told Vogue.
