Katy Perry’s AI-Generated Met Gala Image Goes Viral, Even Fooled Her Mother!
Katy Perry found herself unwittingly thrust into the realm of AI manipulation on a memorable occasion. A stunning image surfaced purportedly capturing Perry’s presence at the Met Gala, an event synonymous with high fashion and celebrity allure. However, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that this image was a sophisticated creation of artificial intelligence, depicting Perry in an exquisite gown perfectly aligned with the gala’s theme of ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.’
Despite the captivating allure of the faux ensemble, it was soon revealed that Perry had not graced the actual Met Gala carpet with this attire, nor had she been present at the event itself. The revelation prompted Perry to share the AI-generated image on her Instagram, accompanied by a humorous exchange with her mother, Mary Perry.
Amused by the deepfake’s convincing portrayal, Mary Perry’s text message playfully mistook the virtual image for reality, praising the gown and likening Perry to a festive float from the Rose Parade.

Perry’s witty response, “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!” highlighted the deceptive nature of AI-generated content and added a touch of levity to the situation. In her Instagram caption, Perry playfully lamented her absence from the Met Gala due to work commitments, teasing her followers about her current projects, notably her time in the recording studio.
This incident echoed Perry’s previous Met Gala appearances, notably her standout moment when she adorned herself with massive feathered angel wings atop a striking Atelier Versace ensemble, in homage to the ‘Heavenly Bodies’ theme. Reflecting on this iconic look during a 2023 fashion retrospective with Vogue, Perry reminisced about the logistical challenges and grandeur of her entrance, arriving in a vintage Rolls-Royce while standing tall amidst her elaborate wings.
In recent years, Perry has adopted a more subdued approach to her Met Gala ensembles, blending elegance with a hint of theatrical flair. Ahead of the 2022 event, she emphasised the importance of surprising her audience with unexpected fashion choices, straying from her trademark bold and colourful style.
