Kim Kardashian’s Mobile Game Shuts Down After Almost a Decade

Kim Kardashian’s glitzy journey into the mobile gaming realm is bidding farewell after a dazzling decade of turning fans into virtual A-list celebrities. The curtains are closing on ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,’ the game that allowed enthusiasts to climb the social ladder through a mix of events, acting gigs, modelling, club appearances, and even virtual dating.

Launched in June 2014 in collaboration with Glu, this digital escapade offered a taste of stardom where players could soar to new heights with the help of “K stars,” though the game itself was free to play.

The 43-year-old Kardashian confirmed the game’s closure and took a moment to express her gratitude to the dedicated players and the Glu team who supported the venture throughout its 10-year run. As a result of this decision, the game has been unceremoniously yanked from both Apple and Android app stores.

Users who still have the app on their devices, however, can continue to bask in the glow of virtual stardom until 8th April, thanks to a countdown timer reminding them of the impending shutdown.

Kim’s foray into the mobile gaming universe proved to be a monumental success, quickly racing towards an annual revenue of $200 million within a month of its 2014 launch. The game wasn’t just a solo act; it featured appearances from Kardashian family members like Khloé, Kourtney, and the matriarch herself, Kris Jenner.

The star-studded digital world also welcomed the likes of André Leon Talley and NeNe Leakes, who made stylish cameos alongside the Kardashians. Talley, in particular, flaunted his avatar decked out in Valentino creations and bespoke suits, sharing the glamorous moment on Instagram and expressing his enthusiasm for the Kim game.
