Kit Harington Confirms Jon Snow Spin-Off is No Longer in Development

Kit Harington recently confirmed that the much-anticipated ‘Game of Thrones’ sequel focusing on his character is no longer in development. Fans had been buzzing with excitement over the prospect of a Jon Snow spin-off, but it’s now officially out of HBO’s plans due to a lack of a compelling storyline.

While promoting his film ‘Blood for Dust,’ Harington told Screen Rant that the spin-off series is “off the table.” He explained that he hadn’t spoken about it earlier because it was in the initial stages of development, and he didn’t want to create unnecessary hype. After much deliberation, Harington and the creators decided to shelve the idea. “Currently, it’s off the table because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough,” he said.

However, the Eternals actor didn’t completely crush fans’ hopes. He added a glimmer of possibility, saying, “There may be a time in the future when we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.” This gives Jon Snow enthusiasts a reason to keep hoping!

‘Game of Thrones,’ based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, has a vast and intricate world, allowing for numerous spin-offs. HBO has capitalised on this, with several prequels already in the works.

The first spin-off, ‘House of the Dragon,’ has been a hit, currently enjoying its second season with record-breaking views. Next in line is ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ based on Martin’s novellas known as ‘The Tales of Dunk and Egg.’ This series is filming and is expected to premiere in 2025.

Another exciting project is ‘Aegon’s Conquest,’ which will explore the rise of House Targaryen. Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that this series is in the “very early” stages of development.

Remember Sea Snakes, also known as Lord Corlys or the Lord of the High Tides? Though his role in “House of the Dragon” is relatively minor, he’s a legendary figure. HBO is developing ‘The Sea Snake/Nine Voyages,’ focusing on his adventures. Lastly, another confirmed spin-off is ‘Ten Thousand Ships,’ which will follow Princess Warrior Nymeria, an ancestor of House Martell and the founder of Dorne.
