Kourtney Kardashian Reflects on Postpartum Pressure After Son Mason in 2009

Kourtney Kardashian Barker recalls the pressure she felt to “bounce back” after the birth of her first child.

On this week’s episode of ‘The Kardashians’, the 45-year-old Lemme co-founder has a fitting for the Emmys, which she attended with her Blink-182 drummer husband, Travis Barker, 48. During the episode, her mom, Kris Jenner, 68, visits her, and Kardashian Barker shares her anxiety about re-entering the world after welcoming her son, Rocky Thirteen.

“For the past two months, I’ve loved being at home with the baby and I don’t want to leave. I’m starting to get a bit of anxiety about going back into the world,” the mother of four confesses. In the scene, she tells her mom that she still has 10 pounds to lose “if I care to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.”

“I care to get back, but I’m breastfeeding. So I’m taking my time, and they say to keep your vagina intact, you should not jump or run for like six months,” she adds. “That makes sense. You should do Pilates,” Jenner advises.

“I’m doing Pilates tomorrow. I’ve just been walking,” Kardashian Barker responds, mentioning her family’s plans to accompany Barker on his band’s tour in Australia for a month. As she tries on a corset, Jenner compliments her daughter’s appearance. “Can you breathe?” the momager asks.

“No, but I can’t breathe. My boobs are humongous and filled with milk and veins,” Kardashian Barker replies. In a confessional, she admits that getting back to her pre-pregnancy size is not her priority this time around.

“My priority is not bouncing back and getting my body back in shape like it has been in the past. I remember after having Mason, it was a big deal to talk about how quickly you could bounce back, and everyone would do magazine covers,” she recalls from welcoming her son Mason in 2009. “I did a magazine cover in a bikini and stressed myself out to follow a certain diet. This time, I’m really just focused on nourishing my body and eating the best foods to maintain my milk supply.”
