Kristen Stewart Says Donald Trump Inspired Her to Come Out

Kristen Stewart has recently opened up about how a series of tweets from former US President Donald Trump regarding her breakup with Robert Pattinson spurred her to publicly embrace her sexuality.

Back in February 2017, during her hosting gig on 'Saturday Night Live,' Stewart didn't hold back in responding to Trump's previous social media jabs at her. "Donald, if you weren’t a fan then, you’re probably not going to be one now," she quipped in her opening monologue. "Because I’m hosting SNL and, well, I'm openly gay now."

Reflecting on that moment in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Stewart described it as a spontaneous decision, explaining that the SNL team had suggested incorporating Trump's remarks into her monologue.

In Trump's tweets, he accused Stewart of being unfaithful to her then-boyfriend and 'Twilight' co-star, Robert Pattinson, and advised him not to reconcile with her. "He’s upset with me for cheating on my boyfriend?" Stewart remarked. "Little does he know…" Seizing the moment, she chose to come out as gay.

Stewart also shared her lack of surprise at Trump's involvement in her personal life. "It was inevitable he’d have an opinion on my situation," she remarked. "I mean, what’s a 20-year-old who’s still figuring things out got to do with him?" She added, "He's such a petulant child… Screw you, mate!"

Trump's remarks about Stewart surfaced in 2012, following images of her kissing Rupert Sanders, the director of 'Snow White And The Huntsman,' while she was still dating Pattinson. Stewart later publicly apologized for her actions.
