Kylie Jenner’s Shuts Down Speculations That Timothée Chalamet Influenced Her Style Shift

Kylie Jenner is addressing critics who have opinions on her recent shift towards a more conservative appearance. In an interview with The New York Times, the 26-year-old founder of Kylie Cosmetics responded to claims that her new style is influenced by her current boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, with whom she has been linked since 2023.

Expressing uncertainty about the rumours, Jenner stated, “I don’t know how I feel about that. I just don’t want to talk about personal things.” She revealed her unawareness of the theory, emphasizing her preference to focus exclusively on social media comments related to her businesses and products rather than her personal life or appearance. The NYT highlighted a “puff-sleeve ‘cottagecore’ maxidress” Jenner wore last summer.

Contrary to the speculated influence of her relationship, Jenner attributed her new style to the birth of her two-year-old son, Aire Webster. “It takes me a while after I have a baby to feel like myself again,” she explained. “Then you get your body back, and you’re like, ‘Wait, the trends have changed.’”

During the interview with the NYT, Jenner candidly discussed the emotional toll constant criticism of her physical appearance has taken on her. The newspaper reported instances where harsh lighting in photos triggered stories featuring plastic surgeons speculating about additional cosmetic procedures.

Reflecting on the impact, she shared, “It’s just years and years of not feeling like my face or looks are accepted. There’s nothing anyone could ever say now that would hurt me.”

In late February, Jenner attended an event celebrating the launch of the fourth drop of her clothing collection Khy, wearing a black tube top with cut-out straps and cut-out foldover pants. The outfit, once again on the conservative side, showcased a departure from her previous styles.
