Lainey Wilson Laughs Off Wardrobe Malfunction After Pants Split on Stage: “A Real Show”

During her performance at the Faster Horses Music Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan, Lainey Wilson experienced a wardrobe malfunction that left her with split pants on stage in front of thousands of fans. The incident occurred while she was performing her hit song ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’, and despite the unfortunate mishap, Wilson handled it with humour and grace.

As the wardrobe malfunction happened, Wilson swiftly changed into a new pair of pants, but not without making light of the situation. Her reaction was captured in several TikTok videos, where she joked about the incident, saying, “Y’all just about got a real show. A real show!” Her ability to laugh off the wardrobe mishap endeared her even more to her fans, who appreciated her good-natured response.

Wilson continued with her performance, but she couldn’t resist making a few more jokes about the incident. Reflecting on the unexpected event, she remarked, “You can’t make that up! I’d have never known had my people back here not seen it. There’s a first time for everything, and I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of.” Her playful attitude in the face of a wardrobe malfunction resonated with her audience.

Adding to the humour, Wilson later posted a video of herself jump-squatting in a new pair of pants to test their durability. In the video, she wrote, “Adding this into my routine before a show so my britches don’t rip like they did last night at Faster Horses.” This self-deprecating humour further showcased her ability to handle unexpected situations with a smile.

In a subsequent appearance on Today, Wilson made another style statement by wearing a striking outfit of black flared leather pants and a matching leather vest with turquoise embroidery and fringe details. Her bold choice was designed by By The Namesake, a custom leather atelier. Rosa Halpern, the founder and designer of the brand, praised Wilson’s style, saying, “Working with Lainey and her team has been an amazing experience because she has her signature look and knows what she wants to wear.”

Halpern also noted that the leather bell bottoms were a customized take on her label’s Louisa design, adding, “It’s fun to take our signature style (The Louisa’s) and dramatize them with some added flare (literally and figuratively!), which looks fabulous on Lainey!” This collaboration highlighted Wilson’s unique sense of fashion and her ability to turn even wardrobe challenges into opportunities for memorable style statements.
