Lainey Wilson Reflects on Humble Beginnings After Winning at 2024 ACM Awards

Lainey Wilson, a celebrated figure in the country music scene, clinched the prestigious ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award at the latest ACM Awards. The victory marked a significant milestone in her career, triumphing over a notable lineup of nominees that included renowned artists like Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen.

During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Wilson, who had earlier secured the ‘Female Artist of the Year’ award, shared a touching reflection on her journey. She reminisced about her childhood days when she would gaze at the stars from the roof of her small-town home, dreaming of a future beyond her humble beginnings.

“I remember being a little girl… I would climb out on the top of our roof… I would look up and I’d see the planes flying over my little town… and I’d dream about being up there in one of those planes,” she recalled, her voice filled with nostalgia.

Despite her remarkable success and accolades, Wilson expressed that she still sees herself as that same starry-eyed girl from her past. “The funny thing is, I still feel like that little girl… I still climb out on the roof and I look at the stars, except I feel like I’m a little more eye level with them now,” she shared, highlighting the enduring connection she feels to her roots and aspirations.

In her gracious speech, Wilson also extended heartfelt gratitude to her fans and fellow nominees, acknowledging the love and support she has received throughout her career. “Everybody in this category has loved me… encouraged me every step of the way. And I love y’all for that,” she expressed, emphasising the camaraderie and camaraderie within the country music community.

Looking ahead, Wilson unveiled her plans for a new milestone in her musical journey, announcing the upcoming release of her fifth studio album titled ‘Whirlwind.’ Beyond her musical endeavours, the Grammy-winning artist has also ventured into the culinary world, partnering with TC Restaurant Group to launch Bell Bottoms Up, a vibrant three-story restaurant and bar situated in Nashville.
