Lindsay Lohan Confirms a ‘Freaky Friday’ Sequel is In The Works!

Rumours of a ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel featuring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have been circulating for years and it looks like the sequel is finally on the cards.

During an interview on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, Lohan confirmed that a follow-up to the 2003 film was indeed in the works. “I won’t say too much yet. I don’t want to give too much away,” Lohan told the host in response to his question about the timeline for the production of the film.

She added, “We are both excited. I’m gonna speak for Jamie.” Lohan and Curtis have expressed their enthusiasm for starring in a sequel. Back in October 2022, Curtis was asked on The View if she would return to her role alongside Lohan, to which she responded that she was “creatively wide open” to the idea.

Curtis even pitched an idea for the ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel, suggesting, “Let me be the grandma, let me be the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon.”

“I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world,” Curtis added.

‘Freaky Friday’ is based on a 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers, where a mother and daughter swap bodies following a magical Chinese fortune cookie. Curtis and Lohan portrayed the mother-daughter duo, with Harmon playing Curtis’ fiancé in the film.
