Luke Bryan Invites Beyoncé to ‘Join The Family’ After CMA Awards Snub

Luke Bryan recently shared his thoughts on Beyoncé’s absence from the CMA Award nominations during an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s ‘Andy Cohen Live’. The discussion focused on Beyoncé’s country album ‘Cowboy Carter’ being overlooked for the 2024 nominees list. Cohen asked Bryan for his take on the news, which had sparked a lot of attention, particularly from Beyoncé’s loyal fanbase, the Beyhive.

Bryan acknowledged Beyoncé’s immense popularity and the strong support she has from her fans. He commented on the situation, saying, “Beyoncé has a lot of fans that have her back.

And if she doesn’t get something they want, man, they come at you.” While supportive of other artists exploring country music, Bryan expressed his belief that simply making a country album doesn’t guarantee a nomination. He added, “Just because she made one … I don’t need [a nomination], just ’cause I make one.”

Bryan suggested that the Country Music Association voting body may have overlooked Beyoncé’s work due to her limited presence in the country music scene. He emphasised that country music is more than just creating a country album—it’s about immersing oneself in the genre and becoming part of the community.

Bryan said, “Beyoncé can do exactly what she wants. She’s probably the biggest star in music. But come to an award show and high-five us, and have fun and get in the family too.”

Despite the snub, Beyoncé isn’t a stranger to country music. In 2016, she performed “Daddy Lessons” with The Chicks at the CMAs, a performance that sparked both praise and controversy. The Chicks had been reluctant to return to the CMAs after being blacklisted, but as vocalist Natalie Maines explained, “When Beyoncé calls, you’re like, ‘OK, maybe just this one time.’”
