Luke Newton was taken aback by the enthusiastic fan reaction to the now-iconic carriage scene in 'Bridgerton,' but he assures viewers that the best is yet to come in the second part of the season.
The climax of the first half of 'Bridgerton' Season 3 features a much-anticipated, steamy rendezvous between Colin Bridgerton (played by Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) inside Penelope's carriage. Speaking at the London premiere, Newton hinted that fans should brace themselves for even more intense scenes in the upcoming episodes.

"There's so much more to come in part 2," Newton revealed on the red carpet. Reflecting on the audience's reaction to the carriage scene, he added, "The split release format has been fantastic because it allowed fans to savour every moment in part one. With part two, they might have overlooked some incredible scenes if everything had been released at once."
Newton emphasized that the series will only get "steamier" as it progresses, expressing his amazement at the fan creativity online. "The things I've seen—people's ideas are just brilliant," he shared.

In a promotional video for Netflix, Newton and Coughlan discussed their thoughts on filming the carriage scene, which culminates in Colin proposing to Penelope—a moment fans have eagerly awaited since the show's inception. Coughlan, 37, acknowledged the "big pressure" they felt to deliver on this beloved scene from Julia Quinn's ‘Romancing Mister Bridgerton’.
“The fans are very passionate and kept sending us images of carriages,” Coughlan joked about the high expectations. “We knew this scene had to be beautiful, touching, romantic, and sexy, all at once.”

Previously, Newton told about their efforts to maintain authenticity in their characters' intimate scenes. "We wanted to honour the fans' love for Colin and Penelope's relationship," he said. "We had extensive discussions about their first intimate encounter and consulted with the intimacy coordinator to ensure the scene's intensity was just right."
Coughlan added that this season's intimate moments feel genuine. “It’s about two people who are awkward around each other finding intimacy in a real and beautiful way,” she explained. “They laugh, they figure things out together, and that’s what makes it so touching.”
