Lupita Nyong’o Takes Charge in New ‘The Wild Robot’ Trailer

An eagerly anticipated animated film with one of the most star-studded casts ever has just unveiled a new trailer. Universal Pictures has released the latest look at ‘The Wild Robot’, featuring an impressive ensemble led by ‘Black Panther’ and ‘A Quiet Place’ star Lupita Nyong’o.

In the trailer, Nyong’o’s character, Raz, is seen forming bonds with others after being stranded on an island. The cast also includes familiar faces like Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, and many more. The film is the brainchild of Chris Sanders, known for his work on iconic Disney classics like ‘Beauty and the Beast’ ‘Aladdin’, ‘The Lion King’, and ‘Mulan’.

‘The Wild Robot’ is set to hit theaters exclusively on September this year. If it follows the pattern of previous DreamWorks releases like ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’, it could be available for streaming on Peacock a few months later. Sanders and Nyong’o have been developing ‘The Wild Robot’ for over three years, and with the release date approaching, promotional efforts are ramping up.

Earlier trailers showcased the film’s stunning visuals and the emotional theme of finding family, while the latest trailer added a touch of humour to the mix.

While animated films like ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ dominated the box office in 2023, 2024 has seen even greater success. The top-grossing movie of the year so far is ‘Inside Out 2’, which recently broke into the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time.

Other animated hits like ‘Despicable Me 4’, ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’, and ‘The Garfield Movie’ have each grossed over $200 million worldwide, outperforming live-action blockbusters like ‘The Fall Guy’, ‘Furiosa’, ‘Argylle’, and ‘Challengers’, proving that animation continues to be a powerhouse in the film industry.

‘The Wild Robot’ debuts in theaters in September.
