Mac Miller’s Unreleased 2014 Album ‘Balloonerism’ is Set for a Posthumous Release in Early 2025

The estate of the late Mac Miller has revealed plans to release his unreleased 2014 album, Balloonerism. Miller, who tragically passed away in September 2018 at the age of 26 from an accidental overdose, had recorded Balloonerism four years earlier, but it was never released—until now.

In a recent social media post, Miller’s family announced that the album will drop on January 17, 2025, marking 11 years since it was created around the same time as the release of Faces. The album is now available for pre-order.

In a statement, Mac Miller’s estate explained that Balloonerism was a project of significant importance to him, to the point where he commissioned artwork for it and frequently discussed when it should be released. However, GO:OD AM and subsequent albums eventually took priority.

The estate further emphasized that Balloonerism showcases the wide range of Miller’s musical talents and his boldness as an artist. They acknowledged that unofficial versions of the album had been circulating online for years, and since Miller had often expressed the importance of releasing Balloonerism, they felt it was fitting to present an official version of the album to the world.

The post also included the artwork for the upcoming release. Balloonerism will be Miller’s second posthumous album, following the 2020 release of Circles.
