Rumours of a name change surfaced last year when Baker’s online activity hinted at a transition to simply “machine”. The speculation gained traction after a comedic duo, Chad and JT, raised a sign at one of his shows, urging him to drop the “Machine Gun” part of his name.

During the event, when confronted with the sign, Machine Gun Kelly seemed bemused, asking the audience for their thoughts. The crowd responded with enthusiastic cheers in favour of the change.
