Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth take the lead roles in the newest Mad Max instalment, ‘Furiosa’.
Directed by George Miller, Furiosa acts as a prequel to the 2015 hit ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, marking the fifth film in the franchise that originated with the original Mad Max in 1979. Taylor-Joy portrays a young Furiosa, a character previously played by Charlize Theron in ‘Fury Road’. The ensemble cast also includes Alyla Browne, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, Nathan Jones, and Josh Helman.

In addition to directing, Miller co-wrote the story alongside Nico Lathouris, his collaborator from ‘Fury Road’. While there hasn't been an official announcement, Miller expressed enthusiasm for future Mad Max projects during the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
Speaking to Deadline, Miller hinted at the possibility of more Mad Max films, stating, "There's certainly more stories there." However, he emphasized that the franchise's future hinges on the success of Furiosa at the box office. "I'll definitely see how this goes," Miller added.

In an interview, Miller revealed that a story had already been crafted depicting Mad Max's adventures one year before the events of ‘Fury Road’. He expressed a desire to explore this storyline further, explaining, "We had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened."
With a rich backstory already developed, Miller hopes to bring Max's pre-Fury Road experiences to life on screen if given the opportunity.
