Madonna Reveals The First Word Uttered After Waking From a 4-Day Coma Last Summer

In a powerful moment during her sold-out Celebration World Tour at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Madonna bared her soul about her health journey after a severe bacterial infection led to her hospitalization last year.

“This show is not physically hard on me every night. It’s emotionally challenging because I’m sharing the story of my life. My heart is on my sleeve,” the Queen of Pop confessed. Reflecting on numerous falls and broken bones, Madonna emphasized, “I’ve fallen off a lot of horses, but nothing can stop me.”

Recalling her “near-death experience” last summer, Madonna revealed the first word she uttered after waking from a four-day induced coma: “No.” She humorously interpreted it as God asking if she wanted to ascend, to which she emphatically replied, “No,” eliciting laughter from the audience.

Madonna shared a hospital conversation with manager Guy Oseary, where she boldly declared her return to touring in “two f—ing months!” She credited her doctor’s advice to “go outside in the sun” for helping her regain energy, even though it was initially challenging.

Opening up about her vulnerability during the ordeal, Madonna confessed, “It’s strange not feeling in control. That was my lesson: to let go.” The singer acknowledged her children as the driving force behind her comeback, stating, “My children are what really helped me pull through because they worked so hard. I didn’t want to let them down, so I just set a date. And that date became reality.”

Madonna’s kids showcased their talents during the show, with Mercy on the piano, Estere deejaying, Stella appearing onstage, and David singing and playing guitar. The Grammy winner, now 65, reflected on her miraculous recovery and the support of her children during the London tour kickoff last October.

“I didn’t think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me,” Madonna disclosed. With gratitude, she acknowledged, “The angels were protecting me, and my children always save me every time.”

Madonna’s Celebration World Tour is set to continue until the end of April, concluding with five spectacular shows at Mexico City’s Palacio De Los Deportes.
