Margaret Qualley Claims Husband Jack Antonoff Lied to Land Her Role in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’
Margaret Qualley has her husband, Jack Antonoff, to thank for her upcoming role in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’. During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the actress revealed that Antonoff told a little white lie to help her land the part alongside Adam Sandler.
As a devoted fan of Sandler, Qualley was eager to get involved in the sequel, expressing her enthusiasm by contacting her agents immediately upon hearing about the project.

“I saw that there was gonna be a ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and I emailed my agents right away and I said, ‘Anything it takes — no part is too small. Please. I gotta be a part of this, I’m begging you. Please. Whatever it takes,’” Qualley shared. This urgency to join the film set the stage for her husband’s clever fib.
Fallon explained that Sandler texted Antonoff to inquire if Qualley played golf, to which Antonoff enthusiastically responded, “Yeah, she’s actually good!” This exchange prompted a conversation about the nature of the role, with Sandler hinting he might need Qualley for a few days to work on comedic aspects of the character.
Qualley later confessed to Fallon, “I’ve never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually.” She cleverly prepared for the role by practising with the partner of the woman who runs her barn, hitting some balls to gain confidence, albeit with limited success.
Despite the initial deception, Qualley expressed no regrets, stating, “It was the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” regarding her involvement in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’. Netflix officially confirmed the long-awaited sequel, with Sandler reprising his iconic role, adding to the excitement surrounding the film’s production.
