Margot Robbie Bids Farewell to ‘Barbie’ With a New Brunette Bob

Margot Robbie’s Barbie-inspired fashion sense and cosmetic selections have left a lasting impression. The 33-year-old actress completely embraced the role of the renowned Barbie, whether she was on television or dazzling red carpets throughout the globe.

But everything has to change, and it appears Robbie has said goodbye to her Barbie phase—at least for the time being—by drastically changing her hair.

Robbie debuted a new hairstyle and a darker blonde colour at the Breakthrough Prize presentation held on 13th April at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Robbie’s hair was styled by renowned hairdresser Aleksey Bishop from a chest-length look that she last wore at the 2024 Oscars to an elegant angled long bob that colorist Jacob Schwartz highlighted with chestnut highlights and darker blonde tones.Robbie’s new hairstyle was given a tousled French girl vibe by hairstylist Christopher Farmer.

Bishop posted on Instagram after reflecting on the change, saying, “As a child, I used to chop off all of my Barbies’ hair. How complete a circle is it to chop off the hair of the actual Barbie?”

Robbie, styled by Andrew Mukamal, wore a simple Rick Owens dress that accentuated her stylish hairdo. Before this, Schwartz had shown how he lightened Robbie’s hair, focusing on a look that was effortless and natural.

Whatever the reason, Robbie’s hair makeover makes a statement for 2024, following in the footsteps of other famous people who have dared to experiment with unconventional hairstyles like Jennifer Aniston and Rita Ora.

Though the cause of Robbie’s most recent hairstyle change is still unknown, rumours abound. Some theories include wanting a change or getting ready for new roles, including creating a live-action Monopoly movie or playing the lead in ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.’
