The 34-year-old ‘Barbie’ star and Ackerley, also 34, first crossed paths in 2013 on the set of ‘Suite Française’, where he worked as an assistant director while she starred in the film. They quietly tied the knot in December 2016 during a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, without publicly announcing their engagement.
Before their marriage, Robbie and Ackerley were initially friends and later collaborated professionally at their production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, alongside Robbie’s childhood friends Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara. The company has been involved in producing various successful films and TV series such as ‘I’, ‘Tonya’, ‘Birds of Prey’, and ‘Barbie’ movies, all featuring Robbie in prominent roles.
