Matty Healy of The 1975 to Appear With His Mum Denise Welch in New Series-‘Celebrity Hunted’
Matty Healy of The 1975 is set to appear alongside his mother, Denise Welch, in the upcoming season of Celebrity Hunted.
Earlier this month, Welch and her husband, Lincoln Townley, were confirmed as part of the new series’ line-up, which will air on Channel 4 on January 5 at 9pm BST. The show features pairs going on the run while being pursued by ‘hunters.’ Fans have recently shared a clip from the series, showing Welch evading the hunters to meet Healy backstage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2023, where The 1975 headlined.
In the clip, Healy is seen commenting on the situation, mentioning how chaotic things have been and revealing that he had been sending random messages to her phone during the filming.
Welch then commented that the hunters had taken their phone, to which Healy responded by mentioning that he had been telling her he would meet her in Sunderland and similar locations. The pair were later seen dancing at the side of the stage while The 1975 performed.
Previously, Welch had mentioned that she is regarded as “the Virgin Mary” by The 1975’s fanbase.
In other news, Healy recently sparked speculation among fans by posting a cryptic update online, which many believe might be the tracklist for a new album by ‘The 1975’. The band has not released a new album since their fifth record, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, in 2022.
Additionally, Azealia Banks issued a cease and desist letter to Healy, demanding $1 million (£790,000) in damages after an online confrontation between the two earlier in December. The altercation began when Healy responded harshly to Banks, who had criticized Charli XCX, Healy’s friend and collaborator.
Charli XCX, who is engaged to Healy’s bandmate George Daniel, has worked closely with him on her latest album Brat, with Daniel receiving co-writing and production credits. He is featured on tracks like Club Classics, where Charli sings “I wanna dance with George,” and the viral hit Apple (Daniel also participated in the viral dance for the song during Charli’s Brat tour).
Healy and Daniel also contributed a reworked version of Charli’s song I Might Say Something Stupid for her Brat remix album. In an interview in October, Charli referred to Healy as “like [her] brother now.”
