Matty Healy Shares Unreleased Demos, Are We Getting a New Album?

Matty Healy dropped a hint about the prospect of either a new The 1975 album or a solo LP, stirring up excitement among fans. The frontman, who recently concluded the extensive North American leg of The 1975’s ‘Still…At Their Very Best’ tour, is presently enjoying a well-deserved break with his family in Manchester for the festive season.

Healy has made a return to his official Instagram page, resuming his famed “good morning guys” IG stories. These stories are his platform for sharing tweets, headlines, memes, and other amusing content. The singer shared a meme featuring Sue Sylvester from ‘Glee’ (played by Jane Lynch), declaring, “I am going to create an album that is so good,” accompanied by the comment “I’m feelin it.”

Following this, he treated fans to a screen recording displaying what seemed to be unreleased demos and potential track ideas stored on his phone. The demos sported intriguing names like ‘ringbox1,’ this love ‘140bpm,’ ‘3011’ and more.

Among the demos, fans have been buzzing about one titled ‘Victim 5.18,’ speculating that it might be a nod to 18th May 2023. On this date, a Taylor Swift fan had penned an open letter expressing concerns about Healy and Swift’s rumoured romance. Adding to the mystery, a PDF script labelled “untitled MH plot ‘Cancelled'” was discovered in the mix of demos.

The big question remains unanswered – are these demos a glimpse into a potential new album for The 1975, or are they paving the way for Healy’s solo venture? While Healy briefly touched upon solo work during a guest appearance on The Ion Pack podcast last year, the specifics are still shrouded in uncertainty.
