What to Expect from the Live-Action 'Scooby-Doo' Series

A new eight-episode origin story for the Mystery Inc. crew is being developed for Netflix's 'Scooby-Doo' live-action series, which will examine how these well-known characters first connected and started working together to solve mysteries. Produced by Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions, the show is characterized as a "modern reimagining" of the iconic animated series that Hanna-Barbera first developed in 1969.

In this version, young friends Daphne and Shaggy—along with the pragmatic Velma and the charming newcomer Fred—find themselves at summer camp and pulled into a mysterious case involving a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. They have to work together to uncover the truth and confront secrets that have the power to permanently alter their lives.

Although there isn't a set release date yet, principal photography is anticipated to start in early 2026, with the series planned to launch on Netflix after the cast and production are finalized.
