Katy Perry, who joined the ‘American Idol’ judging panel in 2018, announced her departure earlier this year. Since then, several names have been floated as potential replacements, including Jon Bon Jovi and now Meghan Trainor.

Meghan Trainor is no stranger to talent shows. Her previous experience includes serving as a judge on ‘Australian Idol’ and coaching on ‘The Voice UK’. This background, coupled with her vibrant personality and knack for constructive criticism, makes her a strong candidate to replace Perry.

Her industry peers, such as Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest, recognize her potential. Meghan’s youth and fresh perspective could bring a new dynamic to the panel, especially alongside veteran judges like 47-year-old Luke Bryan and 74-year-old Lionel Richie.

While Meghan Trainor is keen on the role, Katy Perry has her favourites for the position. Perry has been vocal about her admiration for breakout country star Jelly Roll, even suggesting he could have a future in politics or the clergy. Despite her fondness for Jelly Roll, Perry emphasized that the new judge should be “authentic, bold, and true to themselves above all else.”
