Metallica Reveal First Trailer for New Fan Documentary ‘Metallica Saved My Life’

Metallica is all excited for their upcoming documentary, ‘Metallica Saved My Life’ and have released the first trailer on their Instagram. The video, which will be played in select cities during the North American leg of their M72 global tour, takes a deep dive into the band’s effect through the stories of their fans.
The documentary, which has been described as a work-in-progress, attempts to present the world of Metallica from the viewpoint of people who have been influenced by their music. Fans provide moving testimonies in the trailer, such as a civil war victim who views Metallica as their life’s soundtrack and members of Botswana’s metal scene who attribute their feeling of identity and strength to the band’s music.
Regarding the band’s relationship with their followers, drummer Lars Ulrich says that Metallica is a shared experience that both the band and its supporters share. Renowned music video filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund, who previously worked with Metallica on their 1999 rendition of ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, is directing the movie. Notable videos in his vast collection include Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ with Beyoncé and Madonna’s ‘Ray of Light’

On their official Instagram, Metallica posted the trailer, highlighting the documentary’s focus on the devoted fan base that has stood by one another for more than 40 years through all of life’s highs and lows. During the film’s restricted tour showing, the band urged fans to be among the first to see it.
Along with the documentary, Metallica also revealed a collaboration with the Red Cross, which would involve blood drives at certain of their shows. On a number of dates of their 2025 US tour, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Limp Bizkit, and Ice Nine Kills will provide support.
