Mia Goth, the British actor known for her dynamic roles in films like 'Frankenstein,' recently described her time filming Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic 'The Odyssey' as "one of the greatest experiences of my life." In recent interviews related to the project, Goth was open about how much she appreciated Nolan's directing style and how much the production affected her both personally and professionally.

'The Odyssey,' Christopher Nolan's grandiose version of Homer's famous Greek epic, is expected to be one of the most talked-about movies of 2026. The film will be shown in IMAX 70mm and other high-end formats when it opens in theaters on 17th July, 2026, demonstrating Nolan's renowned dedication to expansive cinematic experiences.

The story revolves around Odysseus, the fabled King of Ithaca, and his perilous return home following the Trojan War, which was full of gods, mythological obstacles, and other perils. The narrative also follows his devoted son Telemachus and wife Penelope as they protect their realm throughout his protracted absence. 

Using more than two million feet of IMAX film, the project was filmed at a number of breathtaking foreign locales across 2025, including Morocco, Greece, Iceland, Italy, and Scotland. The cast is packed with high-profile talent, featuring Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as the goddess Athena, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, and others, creating one of the most impressive ensembles in recent cinema.

Mia Goth's Role and Her Transformative Experience

Mia Goth, who plays Melantho, a character connected to Odysseus's household in the epic, is part of this illustrious group, and her role has deep personal meaning. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Goth called the experience "profound" and mentioned how much she gained from observing Nolan at work. She shared that witnessing his directorial process firsthand, and the trust he places in actors, was deeply enlightening and helped her grow in her craft.

Goth, who had already gained recognition for her parts in 'Frankenstein' and other horror works, stated that she has long admired Nolan's body of work and that the chance to work with him was particularly significant. In addition to 'The Odyssey,' Goth has other exciting projects in the horizon as well, such as co-starring with Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams in 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' which is scheduled to release in 2027.
