Millie Bobby Brown recently shared in an Instagram reel her excitement about her new Netflix movie, ‘Damsel,’ which aims to inspire young people to embrace their inner warrior. In the film, Brown plays the character Elodie, who transforms from a victim to a courageous warrior.
In the Instagram Reel posted by Netflix, the 20-year-old actress expressed, “I’ve never done a role like this before and I was really excited to do something grittier and mature.” Brown highlighted that this role was a departure from her previous ones and hoped that young viewers would look up to Elodie.

Brown also opened up about the challenges of getting into character, mentioning, “And then just to get there, to put the wig on, to get my scars, my bruises and my dirt…the exact way it was the day before…took me about two hours.” Achieving Elodie’s appearance required about two hours of preparation each day.
Despite the difficulties, Brown believes in the film’s message and hopes it will resonate with young audiences as they navigate their lives. Signing off, the Stranger Things actress emphasized that everyone possesses a bit of Elodie’s strength within them, which they can access whenever needed. She remarked, “There’s a piece of Elodie in everyone and you can channel that whenever you want to.”
‘Damsel’ narrates the story of Elodie, a girl deceived into becoming a sacrifice for an ancient debt owed by a royal family. Trapped in a cave with a dragon, Elodie must rely on her wit and bravery to survive.
Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo highlighted the significance of modernizing traditional stories to resonate with today’s audience in a statement by the makers. ‘Damsel’ boasts a talented cast including Angela Bassett, Robin Wright and Nick Robinson. It is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on 8th March.
