DC Studios has found its ‘Supergirl’, and it's none other than Milly Alcock, famed for her portrayal of young Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO's ‘House of the Dragon.’ This rising star is set to don the iconic cape as the Woman of Steel in the upcoming DC Universe, led by the creative minds of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Alcock will take centre stage in the highly anticipated feature film, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ adapting the DC comics run by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
While the project is still without a director, Ana Nogueira, known for her work on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ was brought on board to pen the screenplay in November. James Gunn, confirming Alcock's casting on Instagram, has yet to reveal the debut date for the superhero film.

However, the timing of this announcement, months ahead of Gunn's ‘Superman: Legacy’ shoot, hints at the possibility of Supergirl making her mark alongside her Kryptonian cousin before embarking on her standalone adventure. Get ready for a new era as Milly Alcock steps into the shoes of DC's beloved Supergirl!
Milly Alcock, the Australian sensation, kickstarted her acting journey in her teenage years on Australian television, paving the way for her breakout role as the ambitious Targaryen princess in HBO's ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series, ‘House of the Dragon.’ Her compelling performance earned widespread acclaim for the first five episodes before Emma D'Arcy took over as the timeline advanced by 10 years.
In taking on the role of Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El, Alcock joins a lineage of actresses who have embodied the character in recent years, including Melissa Benoist in the long-running series ‘Supergirl’ and Sasha Calle in the 2023 film ‘The Flash.’ However, James Gunn, at the helm of the new DC Universe, is set on crafting a fresh narrative.

The upcoming ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ draws inspiration from the 2022 comic book run, presenting a unique twist on Kara's origin. Unlike the traditional storyline where she escapes Krypton as an infant, this iteration sees Kara growing up on her doomed home planet until the age of 14 when she arrives on Earth.
Gunn teased this character as "much more hardcore," promising a departure from the familiar Supergirl we've come to know. Get ready for an electrifying take on the iconic character as Milly Alcock steps into this exciting new chapter of the DC Universe!
