‘Moana 2' Teases 'Completely Different Journey' and Character Growth, Reveals Auli'i Cravalho 

Auli'i Cravalho is excited to dive back into Moana's world for the highly anticipated sequel! The 23-year-old actress, who also co-produces the upcoming live-action adaptation, expresses gratitude for returning to voice the beloved island princess in ‘Moana 2’.

"She's growing. She is pushing herself now even further beyond the reef," Cravalho shares with PEOPLE, discussing the evolution of her character since the first film was released nearly eight years ago. "The recording booth is truly my happy place, and [I'm grateful to] return to this character that I know so well, while also taking her on a completely different journey," adds the Hawaii native.

Directed by Dave Derrick Jr., ‘Moana 2’ follows the titular character as she responds to "an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors" and embarks on a daring adventure across Oceania's far seas and perilous waters.

Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui in the animated sequel, alongside Cravalho's ‘Moana’. Both actors are also part of the producing team for the live-action adaptation of ‘Moana.' Reflecting on her journey with ‘Moana’, Cravalho mentions the surprise and excitement surrounding the sequel's development, inspired by the success of other Disney sequels like ‘Frozen II’ and ‘Inside Out 2’.

‘Moana 2’ is set to hit theatres on 27th November.
