‘Monster High’ Movie Confirmed to be In The Works

Following the tremendous success of ‘Barbie,’ Mattel Films is set to bring more of their iconic dolls to the big screen, with a ‘Monster High’ movie now officially in development. This project will be a collaboration between Mattel Films and Universal Pictures, with Academy Award-winning producer and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, known for ‘A Beautiful Mind,’ leading the production under his Weed Road banner.

Although the dolls have inspired numerous media spin-offs, including 15 animated TV specials and movies, this new film promises to be a larger-scale production thanks to Universal Pictures’ involvement.

Mattel Films president Robbie Brenner highlighted the thematic importance of the ‘Monster High’ dolls, stating:

“Monster High helps fans discover the great beauty in being true to yourself and celebrates the unique sensibilities at the core of who we are as individuals. We’re proud to partner with Universal Pictures and the brilliant Akiva Goldsman to usher this important message to audiences worldwide.”

Goldsman, a highly accomplished producer, writer, and director, brings significant experience to the project. He has won multiple awards, including an Academy Award, and has been the showrunner for the critically acclaimed ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,’ which many regard as one of the best Star Trek spin-offs.

His extensive resume also includes creating and show-running ‘The Crowded Room,’ co-creating and executive producing ‘Titans,’ writing for the Fox series ‘Fringe,’ and penning numerous other projects like ‘I Am Legend,’ ‘I, Robot,’ and ‘Cinderella Man.’

Goldsman is already involved with another Mattel Films project, producing the Tom Hanks-starring ‘Major Matt Mason,’ which is still in development. Expressing his enthusiasm for the ‘Monster High’ movie, Goldsman said:

“I’ve been fascinated by ‘Monster High’ since my daughters were obsessed with the dolls as kids. I’m thrilled to once again join forces with Robbie Brenner and our friends at Mattel to help bring this iconic property to life.”
