Natalie Portman Stars in Gripping ‘Lady in the Lake’ Trailer

Natalie Portman dives into perilous waters in the debut trailer for Apple TV+’s new limited series, ‘Lady in the Lake.’ Co-starring Moses Ingram (‘The Queen’s Gambit’), the series explores the enigmatic death of a young woman in 1966 Baltimore. Ingram portrays Cleo Johnson, the murder victim whose tragic demise becomes an obsession for Portman’s character, Maddie Schwartz, a housewife yearning to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist.

Set to premiere on 19th July with a double episode launch followed by weekly releases until the finale, ‘Lady in the Lake’ intertwines Maddie and Cleo’s lives from the start. Maddie’s voice narrates how their paths crossed before Cleo’s murder, revealing Maddie as the one who discovered Cleo’s body in the lake, forging a deep connection to the case.

Maddie’s dissatisfaction with domestic life, much to her husband’s (Brett Gelman, ‘Stranger Things’) dismay, propels her into a relentless pursuit of justice, risking everything she knows to solve the mystery.

The trailer teases Cleo’s haunting presence as Maddie delves deeper into her story, uncovering layers of deception surrounding Cleo’s death. Portraying Maddie’s transformation and Ingram’s compelling performance promise a gripping narrative.

Joining Portman and Ingram are Y’lan Noel, Byron Bowers, Josiah Cross, Mike Epps, Noah Jupe, Mikey Madison, Dylan Arnold, and Pruitt Taylor Vince. Directed by Alma Har’el (‘Honey Boy,’ ‘Bombay Beach’), the series adapts Laura Lippman’s bestselling novel, delivering a powerful exploration of ambition and justice in tumultuous 1960s Baltimore.
